I lean against the rain as it falls.
The echoes rebound from my calls.
“Is anyone there?
Is anyone breathing,
anyone at all like me,
lonely and seething?
Can anyone hear how my heart is beating
steadily along with the rain?”
It slows
And then quickens;
I’m tightly clasping
onto nothingness in the air.
I’m thinking I see
someone so beautiful in front of me,
but is it merely a hallucination?
Is it only fantasy?
I cling to the dream, and it holds me
As I cry out in desperation and pain:
“Can anyone hear me? Can anyone see me,
perhaps keep me warm from the rain?”
The dream disappears,
And we all fall down,
and I fade away soon after
as I lie dead on the ground.
I drown in the rain as it falls.
The echoes still rebound from my calls.
Nobody’s there;
nobody’s breathing
They all died like me,
lonely and seething.
Our once living hearts are no longer beating
steadily along with the rain…
Wow!!!
